General

Do I need an appointment for a repair?

While I do welcome walk-ins I prioritize appointments. Booking an appointment helps you get helped first and cuts your wait time, especially on busy days. If you walk in without an appointment, I will still do my best to fit you in as quickly as possible, but appointments will be taken first.

Services

What services does TechFix offer?

TechFix repairs phones, tablets, laptops, desktops, and gaming consoles. I handle:

  • Screen and glass replacements
  • Battery and charging port issues
  • Software problems, crashes, and slow performance
  • Data recovery and backup help
  • Motherboard diagnostics and board-level repair
  • Microsoldering and general soldering on electronics
  • Custom gaming PC builds and upgrades
  • Buying, selling, and trading electronics like phones, tablets, and other devices

If it is electronic, there is a good chance I can fix it. Reach out with the details of your device and issue.

Software / iOS

Can you downgrade my iPhone to an older iOS version?

In most cases, no. Apple controls which iOS versions can be installed by using cryptographic “signing” for each firmware version. Once Apple stops signing a specific iOS version (for example, iOS 18 on an iPhone 14 Pro Max), it can no longer be installed on that device—this applies to me at TechFix and every other repair shop or software tool.

If Apple is still signing the iOS version you want, I can help you safely update or restore your device to that version. You can check current signing status for your iPhone model at IPSW.me, or contact me and I can take a look at your options.

Warranty

Is there a warranty on repairs?

Most repairs at TechFix include a warranty that covers parts and workmanship for a set period after your repair. The exact coverage depends on the type of repair and parts used. I always explain the warranty for your specific job before you check out, and you can call or message me any time if you have questions after the repair.

Repair

Can you repair water-damaged devices?

Yes. I work on water-damaged phones, tablets, laptops, and other electronics. I start by opening the device, checking for corrosion, and cleaning the board and connectors. In some cases, I may need to do board-level work or microsoldering to bring the device back to life.

Water damage is never fully predictable, so I will always be honest about what I find, what the chances of success are, and whether it is worth repairing or better to back up your data and replace the device.

Repair Time

How long does a repair usually take?

Many common repairs, like screen or battery replacements, can be finished the same day, often within a few hours once I have the device and the part in stock.

More complex jobs, such as motherboard work, deep diagnostics, data recovery, or special-order parts, may take longer. When you book an appointment or drop off your device, I will give you a realistic estimate based on the issue and parts availability.
